Locomotive breakdown at the Zittau narrow-gauge railways and cancellation of the April Tour
Unfortunately we have to cancel the April Tour "with roll wagons into the mountains" from 3 - 5. April 2020, because at this time – contrary to all plans – it is not possible to there are enough steam locomotives available. Although we have enough bookings for this event, we must for this reason cancel. We are currently trying to find a new date for April 2021.
The Zittau narrow-gauge railways have 4 steam locomotives, 99 758 of which will be running until May 2020 to main service in Meiningen, 99 749 was supposed to be at the end of 2019 and go to the main service, but will probably get a extension of the deadline until the end of 2020. 99 760 is due for an interim review. In Zittau (since the machines are heavily used by the current timetable) and 99 731 suffered a break in the steam cylinder whose repair is estimated to take about 5 months. If this repair is carried out in Meiningen, the repair time is extended stay of 99 758, as Meiningen is also at the limit of its capacity works. So it doesn't look good in Zittau right now, which is why we have decided to cancel and postpone.
Regardless of this, we are holding our event "Zittau - saxony steam days" from 20 - 22 August 2020 as planned before Saxony passenger train and the new Saxony freight train, as the IK and the IVK locomotives will be used.
