There has never been a photo tour up the Wendelstein before, so our trip on June 23, 2020 was a premiere. So, at the crack of dawn, even before the official start of operations, we drove HGe 2/2 locomotive 3 and two 2-axle passenger cars from the early days of the Wendelsteinbahn up to the summit and back. The Wendelsteinbahn (WZB) currently owns two operational ellocomotives from the early years of the railroad, which are now over 100 years old. Their final decommissioning is expected in 2020, especially since a new vehicle has been ordered in the meantime. The old locomotives, HGe 2/2, are currently only used for supply runs, which usually take place before the start of operation of the railroad.
