In April 2019 we visited the Chinese capital Beijing with its extensive regular traffic. We devoted two days to the last train operations on the photogenic “old line” to the Great Wall as electric local trains will run on a new line for the next Olympic Winter Games. Then we took a train to the Jingpeng Pass to enjoy the sights and sounds of the DF4 and DF8 diesel locomotives. A lot has changed compared to the times of the QJ steam traction – the small village of Reshui e.g. has become a modern city with skyscapers!
