Tanago, the renowned experts for railfanning in Africa, offer you a wide choice of excellent tours to Africa.
Every year we "dig out" something special for you. On our photo-charters in Zimbabwe we have been the first tour-operator to use an authentic 3rd class passenger coach-set for most of our runpasts. Want to have a look? Here is a small Youtube-clip...
We have been the first one to run an early morning charter train over the Vic Falls bridge - photographed from the Zimbabwean site. We have been the ones convincing the NRZ to run our charter trains with diesel helpers, and so on.
We had success in Kenya, went to Botswanas last steam action in revenue earning service at Selibe Pikwe for so many times now that the mine adapts their train schedules to our photographic needs in the meantime while we are there.
Tanago runs regular 14 days-trips along South Africas industrial and state owned railway lines. We visit the normally strictly off-limit workshops, chase diesel and electrics - last year even local photographers joined our tour due to the outstanding photographic results we achieve on these trips!
But we cannot rest on our laurels and are already looking ahead into 2015...
As you may have read in our news already, we do not believe that Kenya will pop up on our tour schedules in the near future. Corruption, mismanagement, missing enthusiasm and/or business interest, the continuously declining state of the 3 steam locomotives - and now the Islamic terror make a visit to this actually wonderful and welcoming country a little bit hazardous. Thats not what you can expect from us.
We will return to our Southern African stars one more time: a classic Zimbabwe tour on NRZ-tracks, a trip to Botswana, and some exciting steam activities in South Africa! All happens in May and June.
We know that you love to see a GMAM Garratt working wherever it could be - preferably of course in South Africa... unfortunately the only operational GMAM is in "possession" of a man we do not want to make business with because of several "incidents" and irregularities that happened on previous tours. Unless these issues are settled (and right now it does not look this way) we will not throw good money after bad.
More positively spirited tours to the region are in the pipeline and we will update you on these in due time.
Welcome to Africa! Travel with the Experts!
